The 4th installment of project “Catch Up”, Bryce’s first swimming lessons: Bryce just finished his first ten week session of parent and child swimming lessons! He took the classes through the Long Beach Parks and Recreation Department, which were held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Pool here in Long Beach. Bryce loved the water from the very beginning, even though some days he found the mid-80 degree water to be a bit cold and jaw chattering. He is now advanced in splashing and blowing bubbles. He is learning to sit on the edge of the pool until and adult instructs him that it is safe to get in the water. He likes to be dunked under water and always looks so surprised when this happens! Sometimes, he will even dunk his own face in the water! We can’t wait for the next session to start in a few weeks. Our goal for the next session is to work on Read More
Installment #3 in project “Catch Up”, Bryce’s nine month adventures: March started with a trip up to Grandma and Grandpa house to celebrate all of the March birthdays. Bryce certainly was in a giggly mood with Grandpa for the photo session that day! Bryce is really developing a fun personality. He is such an easy going guy who loves life! He is always finding the biggest joys out of the simple things. It must be nice to be a baby, right? We had a fun month celebrating Mom’s birthday and also the beginning of the 2013 wedding season! The next several months will be very busy with weddings, swim lessons, and Bryce’s First Birthday! Hard to believe he will be 1 year old!
The second installment of project “Catch Up”: Bryce’s first Christmas. I promise the others to come in much quicker secession. December was a very busy month for the Taylor family. Bryce celebrated Christmas multiple times with different friends and family. He was beyond overwhelmed by all of the new toys and gifts. The wrapping paper and boxes proved to be equally if not more entertaining than the gifts! He was army crawling all over the place by Christmas too! Christmas day we were at home and had the grandparents over. Bryce once again was totally exhausted unwrapping all of the exciting gifts he received from everyone, including Santa Claus! After Christmas, we went up to Grandma’s cabin for the night. Bryce enjoyed his first snow experience. Unfortunately his snow suit arrived the day we left so his snow exposure was pretty limited. We just had to layer him up and make do with what we had! We had such a Read More
This post is the start of our look back on the little big man’s first year. We have been so lucky to have such a loving little man in our lives. There are about 4-5 more posts in the rest of the series, so make sure to check back to see more soon! We had a very eventful Fall 2012 and celebrated Bryce’s first Halloween and Thanksgiving! He celebrated his first Halloween with a fun party at daycare, a scary Skeleton costume, and helped hand out candy to the trick or treaters in our neighborhood. We were even able to prop him up to a “sitting” position using pumpkins for some precious photographs of him in his costume! By Thanksgiving, he had mastered sitting and hit a milestone that Mom and Dad really enjoyed. He learned to hold his own bottle! I never realized how convenient it is when your baby learns to do this but it really was awesome. Read More
When we were younger, we always looked at all the strollers that “overpopulated” our walking spaces and constantly nipped at our heels as we roamed aimlessly around Disneyland. Wow, how things change when you have a kid! Pure naivety, that’s exactly what I chalk my actions up to, from that what seems to me like an entire lifetime ago. I can honestly say that it was partially a pure lack of respect for parents on our part. While I believe we were hunted down and maliciously trampled by stampedes of baby carriages, most of the time we were simply guilty of being kids. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I respect parents because I know how difficult it is to be a parent in the world of today. On another note, we as parents should think twice about some of the images we publish online. Sometimes it’s either too much, or it’s just not a quality photograph. Read More
You’ve got something…right there…no over a little…ya, right there on your cheek…okay, okay, got it! Messy? That might be an understatement. Fun? Yes! The little tyke has been sitting up pretty well on his own lately, and the doctors said if that’s the case, he can go ahead and start eating solid foods. He’s been noshing down squash, avocado, bananas, and all other kinds of goodies lately. At first, it was really funny because Bryce was looking at us with this hilarious face…like he was asking us what in the world we were trying to do to him. The spoon was a strange enemy, so he fought it sometimes, and other times tried to commandeer it and eat the whole thing! I think my favorites are from the very end…the final battle is over – we’re not sure who won the war – but it’s clear that there were casualties on both sides!! Haha! We’re almost due for some six Read More
Every morning I’m greeted with the biggest, heart-melting smile I’ve ever seen. Bryce shares the details and latest developments in world news, has a good, long stretch, and gives dad some slobbery kisses before our time is up. We’re not quite sure where he gets it from, but he is totally a morning person! Waking Bryce up for his morning routine, that fresh change and a bottle before the long ride to day-care, has become one of dad’s favorite times of the day. The little guy is growing up so quickly now, almost every day it’s something new…a new noise, a new look, a new quirk. If you blink, you might miss something. Daycare has been a blast for Bryce. We also enjoy being sick, so it’s working out just fine. In fact, the number of trips to the doctors needed has probably quadrupled in recent weeks. Such is life, as you other, more experienced parents out there laugh and Read More
The wee man had his first bath at home today and Dad was in charge of taking photos. I know I’m biased, but my goodness if he isn’t just adorable, I don’t know what is! I love when he sticks his tongue out at me, like “Phhhttt, who’s this creepy guy!?”
