Renee and Jimmy’s July wedding at the charming Garden Cottage Bed and Breakfast and Wedgewood Wedding and Banquet Center located in San Clemente was full of merriment for both the couple and those that surround them. The secluded, French-styled cottage was the perfect place to capture our couple and the wedding party in their classic style. Jimmy and his friends were in a celebratory and carefree mood, clinking glasses together and getting ready for the emotional day ahead. We captured some great portraits of Jimmy in the property’s lush gardens, waiting with anticipation to see his bride for the first time. Meanwhile, Renee’s mother helped prep the beautiful bride, touching up her makeup and zipping her into her gorgeous dress. Renee’s intricate, vintage jewelry and sparkling engagement ring complimented her ensemble perfectly. Their ceremony was filled with such genuine emotion that it was hard not to get choked up. It did, however, melt our hearts to see the couples’ son, Major, Read More

The Stave (170 The Promenade North) in Downtown Long Beach finally opened in October 2012 after being under construction for months. The resulting product is a beer and wine bar that exudes a subtle decadence with an upscale flair. The main fixture of the establishment is a 60-foot angled wooden bar with accompanying black vintage vinyl stools. Other featured furnishings include vinyl booths along the windows, wood panel walls and clear garage doors that roll up to an outdoor patio that faces the ever-growing Promenade area. The outdoor patio is complete with bar-height fire pits and a canopy. Garry Muir, one of the owners of Downtown Los Angeles’ Corkbar; Natalie van Waardenburg, a worldly and knowledgeable sommelier; and John Murawski, founder of Cal-Asia Construction, started The Stave with the intent of it becoming a local watering hole for the surrounding communities. You can dress up or down for a night out on the town. Of course, the main attraction is The Stave’s Read More

Scott and Sandy are so comfortable around one another; their effortless affection just spills out. It doesn’t matter who’s around, and that’s okay, in fact we encourage it! The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove in Newport is a significant moment in Scott & Sandy’s history – it’s where they had their first date. For those who haven’t been, the area is perfect, nice and tucked away with a small and scenic village beach-side cottages that are perfect for a romantic getaway. Of course, what better way to start off the day than with a glass of champagne. We took some time to let them relax and grabbed a few fun, candid shots. It’s was such a treat to capture their cute, spontaneous moments. The way Scott looks at Sandy, it’s obvious how lucky he feels to have finally met the love of his life. After the Beachcomber, we headed down to play in the sand for a bit. The weather was Read More

The Westridge Golf Club in La Habra was the perfect setting for Yvette and Gil’s elegant, classic July wedding. The luxuriant, green grounds provided a great backdrop to catch the fun-loving bridal party and our overjoyed couple. We captured the intimate moments of Yvette preparing for the day with her mother. She accentuated her gorgeous dress with a simple, beaded headband that made the blonde bride look like a princess. We were also able to take some unique closeup shots of the rings, combining their sleek industrial chic with a spot of nature. Yvette’s bridesmaids were a whimsical group, clad in rich, royal purple. These ladies were more than willing to pose for some cute, memorable shots, and their excitement really shines in our candid captures, too. Sometimes unexpected clients are the ones that bring the most joy. We are so busy booking wedding clients that we forget to market to, or even think to look for Senior Portrait clients. Well, it’s nice to forget what you think you need to be doing for once, and instead just let things happen. Tianna was an unexpected surprise: A senior who was disappointed with the traditional and boring studio head-shot approach that the school photographers provide – she came to us for something different, something exciting, something she would actually enjoy showing off to her friends & family. It’s refreshing to do what we do, but within a different segment of clients. Our wedding clients become good friends, as we always strive to be their trusted advisers, guiding them through new territory while they open a new chapter in their lives. Well, it’s the same for everyone looking to have their photograph taken, and we can never forget that Read More
