Engagements

Whoever said three is a crowd probably never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Penguin. The black and white stuffed animal in the photos belongs to Brooke and Kevin, two very funny Long Beach natives who shared him with me for their photo engagement session in their hometown. The couple decided they wanted to keep the shoot close to home which proved great because we went to some wonderful places including a visit to a beautiful California State University, Long Beach property (top secret), frolicked through some colorful fields, got close to nature, and ended the day at the Belmont Pier right before sunset. It’s rare that we meet two such down to earth people who made us laugh throughout the day, their humor is definitely contagious. During our time together they were like two teenagers totally in love: playful, happy, and casual. They even opted to were jeans rather than get dressed up so they could be comfortable and carefree. Just because you elope doesn’t mean you have to skip having any photos snapped. Traci & Jeremy may have decided to bypass a big wedding for eloping and later hosting a small reception, but they still wanted to capture those special moments to remember forever. They booked us for that very reason, to take some formal bride and groom portraiture at Point Fermin Park and its historic lighthouse in San Pedro, and in front of the downtown Long Beach skyline after they had previously tied the knot. The young couple couldn’t have been happier to slip back into their wedding attire and have some fun during our all-day and evening shoot. As a result, we got some great photos of them embracing, sharing longing gazes, dancing under the sunset, and showing everyone how much in love they are. The locations they chose were perfect: Point Fermin Park in San Pedro consists of 37 landscaped acres of tree-shaded lawns, sheltered pergolas, colorful Read More

The look of love is easy to capture on film when you have a couple like Jon and Alexis – especially when the backdrop is breathtaking Laguna Beach, California. With its picturesque  surroundings at almost every corner – from its winding side streets and world class resorts such as the Montage  to its sandy shores – this city with a European flair oozes with romance.  And endless places to photograph. Being new to California, Jon and Alexis took a leap of faith when they agreed to our suggestion of shooting in Laguna. They enjoyed the images we captured so much, they asked us to shoot their spring 2015 wedding in the Sunshine State, Florida. It will be held at The Strand in Naples, a truly gorgeous Floridian Country Club. On this photo adventure, the couple enjoyed long walks along the breathtaking Montage shoreline, trekking and braving giant rock formations, strolling around quaint downtown, and finally taking a respite on a sidewalk bench after so much fun.  They are a lovely couple who Read More

PortraitsSeniors

Nobody can debate that senior year is a special time for those who are getting ready to say goodbye to high school and hello to their futures. Whether it’s heading off to college and the many adventures the experience will bring with it or just staying close to home, the senior year holds many fond memories. And what better way to remember your senior year than with a variety of senior portraits captured by an expert photographer? We enjoyed taking these snapshots of Long Beach senior Carly in and around the area so she would indeed have something to look back at. During our shoot we went to many beautiful locales including Gum Grove Park, the Seal Beach Pier, and the Bolsa Chica Reserve in Huntington Beach. Carly is a super sweet girl who likes to laugh and enjoy herself wherever she goes. Her energy and enthusiasm made us laugh and smile right along with her. As you can see Read More

Not all art is created on a linen canvas while standing in front of an easel. Take these photos — of everything from the recreation of a magazine covering of Audrey Hepburn to another of a simple flower bouquet — of the various works of art created by the many talented artists who showed off their skills at The Belmont Shore Chalk Art Festival. The annual event attracted more than 100 chalk artists who used chalk as their medium, and the sidewalks of Belmont Shore as their canvas. We were excited to snap these photos of the works in progress, as well as those completed. It’s nice to give credit, where credit is due. The artists worked hard throughout the day to churn out these incredible works and it showed. But this type of art is not new; the origins of modern street painting can be traced to Britain. Pavement artists were found all over the United Kingdom and by 1890 it was estimated that more than Read More

One of the best things about being a photographer is meeting all kinds of people everyplace we go. For instance, while at we were at a recent bridal show, we met the owners of L.A. Bridal magazine. The publication has a solid reputation in the industry as a leader for all things wedding related. The publishers loved our work so much they asked us if we would like to shoot an upcoming cover for them. We said we were happy to oblige since editorial photography and portraiture are both services we enjoy providing because each is so rewarding. Needless to say, it is a wonderful feeling to see your work hanging above someone’s fireplace at their home, in the pages of their wedding book, or simply in a frame on a desk. It should be equally as rewarding to see our work on the cover of a magazine. These photos you see here are from a photo shoot  we did on location at the Marina Del Rey Marriott Read More

If you’re fit like Kelli than why not show off your buff body through a series of portraits like these? A fitness professional by day, she embodies what many people aspire to look like and that’s fit as a fiddle. Kelli decided she needed some updated head shots for her personal portfolio, as well as for her fitness business so we hit the picturesque Shoreline Village in Rainbow Harbor located in Downtown Long Beach. As you can see from the variety of photos we took, whether she is sporting a pretty dress or her workout gear, she takes a great photo. The surroundings also made it easy to photograph Kelli because there is always something happening at Shoreline Village including events, shopping, and in general, great people-watching. Choose from restaurants to dine like a pizza place, barbecue, Cajun or if you prefer upscale dining there is that too along with casual snacks like funnel cakes. Walk along the boardwalk once you’re done or visit Parkers’ Read More

Thanks to Liem & Leila we can bring you this gorgeous set of images from their Cal State Long Beach Engagement Session at the Japanese Gardens, the Pyramid, & then a lovely beach-side sunset finish. Being teachers, these two wanted to shoot on campus & have the surroundings lend themselves perfectly to the lives they’ve built together. We think the results speak for themselves. The Japanese Gardens are so picturesque. With all the little micro-areas, great foreground elements, and fun reflections & bridges, you just can’t go wrong. And check out those rock star poses with the pyramid backdrop – we absolutely couldn’t resist putting them up there and letting them have fun! Surprisingly enough, there were plenty of great areas all around campus – fun little hallways, classrooms, & fountains – we just had an absolute blast with Liem & Leila! Thank you so much for being part of our family of great couples & wonderful people. We just Read More
