It’s crazy to see how summer is already in full effect! We are in the middle of our busy wedding season and the baby is already two months old! We had a great 4th of July this past week, spent with our awesome friends, Luke and Shawna. We headed down to Shawna’s Dads house, where we could have a great view of the neighboring country club’s fireworks from the comfort of his backyard. Apparently parts of Orange County legalized the sale of fireworks this year as well so we could put on our own show! The firework stands were pretty picked over but we still ended up with a fun assortment of fountains. Baby Bryce got to see his first fireworks as well. He only was able to keep his eyes open for a few, but nonetheless, he saw some! Luke and I had fun setting up lighting and taking pictures of our own firework display and of the girls playing Read More
The 2012 wedding season is now in full swing, and we are pleased to share our most recent wedding with you all. Stay tuned over the next three months as we will be blogging another seven weddings from San Diego, CA all the way up to Portland, OR, and we cannot wait to share with you! Jennifer and Jason tied the knot at Costa Mesa Country Club in Costa Mesa, CA on 6/2/12. Our day with them began at the Ayres Hotel in Costa Mesa, CA to capture some of the preparation for their big day. At the venue there was a great, unused banquet room adjacent to their reception ballroom, so we decided to hijack it for our dress on & bridal portraits. The room was great, and I love the photographs from there. It had windows from floor to ceiling, stretching the entire length of the room, and it gave us such a great, beautiful source of light to capture Read More
These two are such awesome people! I love grabbing drinks and hanging out with my clients after their engagement session so that we can get to know each other better, but these guys are no joke. We had so much in common that the restaurant was about to give us the boot after staying so long, but we left feeling like we had been great friends for years. I can’t say enough how I love getting to do my job, and thank you to Pearlyn & D’Andre for yet another exceptional excuse to do what I love. We hadn’t previously done any work across the bridge in San Pedro, and this was a great chance to get some nice content at new locations. We began the session over at Point Fermin Park and Lighthouse, a beautiful spot which has a great big park, an amphitheater, and a great view of the cliffs wrapping around the Palos Verde coastline. We just let Read More
The wee man had his first bath at home today and Dad was in charge of taking photos. I know I’m biased, but my goodness if he isn’t just adorable, I don’t know what is! I love when he sticks his tongue out at me, like “Phhhttt, who’s this creepy guy!?”
As proud new parents, we welcome Bryce Gregory Taylor to the world. He was born on 5/11/12 at 3:34 pm, weighing 7 lb 12 oz & 20 in long. I’m compelled by images documenting the first few moments of a child’s life. Luckily I was able to capture these while still assisting with the birth of my son. These images are so emotional to me, I don’t really know the words to put with them. All I can truly say is that I am so happy to have a healthy new son, and I am so proud of my wife and her amazing accomplishment.
There’s no easy way to say this: Time has absolutely flown by. I sound like an old coot…”It feels like just yesterday…”, but seriously it does. We found out that Lindsey was pregnant on September 19th. There was a rule: Don’t tell any family members (pre-Facebook release) unless it’s in-person. Well, that didn’t apply to me since I was on the road. Daddy found out by phone, sad huh? I digress…it’s been a journey filled with first-time home purchases, remodeling, baby classes, doctors appointments, and an absurd amount of planning. Now, in less than 4 weeks, we will be parents, and there’s no more planning, just doing. Along the way, I have had to listen to SO MANY PEOPLE: “When are you taking photos?”, and “We want to see that bump!” I’m no maternity photographer, it’s not my day-to-day, but that doesn’t mean I can’t pull it off. In fact, I was slightly worried about being compared to other people’s work, Read More
I thought it might never end. Every night I would make myself stay up working until I couldn’t take it anymore. Remodeling our house was definitely taking a big bite, but we’re troopers, and in no way was it more than we could chew. Back in November, literally the day after moving in, we started renovations. First was the flooring. We had all the existing laminate wood, ugly, peach colored tile, and linoleum removed to make way for a nice grey ceramic tile. We were thinking: Keep it simple, keep it uniform. While all this was going on, and for months to come, we completely countless mini-projects. This may be no news to one of you that already owns a home, but to others it may be. Simply the task of making a house a home, something you enjoy coming home to, is quite daunting. Other smaller projects included: Backyard re-landscaping, door & hardware replacements, house-wide light fixture replacement, hanging garage Read More
Jennifer and Jason are definitely troopers! Once we met up, we dragged them straight into the weeds and dirt, climbing up and down hills, and getting poked by nasty thistle…ouch! Whatever the circumstances, they were up for it, and a blast was had by all. This time of the year the reserve is just stunning and beautiful. The flowers are in bloom, and the fields are just high enough, but not yet overgrown. Natural environments like these make me wish I were shooting with vintage film cameras, because I just feel that it compliments the surroundings so well. Maybe I was a hippy in a previous life? Hard to believe with my love for electronics..hah! My idea for this shoot was just to get the two of them out in the middle of this beautiful, natural environment and just see what happens. I always like shooting with whatever available foreground elements are around, and of course with plenty of depth Read More
