Whoever said three is a crowd probably never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Penguin. The black and white stuffed animal in the photos belongs to Brooke and Kevin, two very funny Long Beach natives who shared him with me for their photo engagement session in their hometown.
The couple decided they wanted to keep the shoot close to home which proved great because we went to some wonderful places including a visit to a beautiful California State University, Long Beach property (top secret), frolicked through some colorful fields, got close to nature, and ended the day at the Belmont Pier right before sunset.
It’s rare that we meet two such down to earth people who made us laugh throughout the day, their humor is definitely contagious. During our time together they were like two teenagers totally in love: playful, happy, and casual. They even opted to were jeans rather than get dressed up so they could be comfortable and carefree.
Not only did Brooke and Kevin light up every place they went, they were excited, fearless and eager to pose for the lens. Their smiles and sense of humor were so abundant that day; it was clear they are made for each other.
They also caught us off guard with a surprise of their own; Mr. Penguin, who served as an extra model. Of course, he is an inside joke between the couple, so much so that Kevin brought him along the day he proposed to Brooke.
As you can see from the photos, Mr. Penguin is an important member of their family and he had a key role while we were shooting – keeping track of Brooke’s stunning ring!
I’m looking forward to sharing their special day with them, Brooke, Kevin, and of course, Mr. Penguin, who takes a pretty nice photo himself. He’d probably make a good ring bearer, too.
